If shingles are not fixed right away, or left un-repaired for to long, you could potentially add thousands of dollars to a repair that could have simply cost a couple hundred. Many times the conservative 3-tab shingle can blow off of the roof during strong winds, causing the underlayment to be exposed. When this happens it’s important to get the problem areas repaired right away. When replacing a new shingle roof, we start by removing the shingles and underlayment below. Once the roof is clear from all debris (including old staples and nails), any deteriorated plywood will be removed and replaced. The new felt underlayment is then rolled onto the plywood, then the shingles will be installed with each line being measured to ensure straight runs across the roof.
